Techno-Economic and Environmental Feasibility of 165 MW CCGT Plant in Karachi
This project assessed the techno-economic and environmental feasibility of a 165 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant in Karachi, Pakistan. This comprehensive analysis provided critical data on performance, financial viability, and greenhouse gas mitigation potential to support informed energy planning.

Project Overview
Global electricity demand and climate change necessitate efficient, sustainable power solutions. Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants offer high thermal efficiency and reduced emissions. This project conducted a comprehensive techno-economic and environmental feasibility analysis for a proposed 165 MW CCGT power plant in Karachi, Pakistan, a densely populated urban hub with consistent energy demand. Utilizing RETScreen Expert software, the study integrated technical simulations, financial modeling, and environmental evaluation. Key inputs included location-specific climate data from NASA SSE, equipment specifications, and financial assumptions. The analysis generated outputs such as electricity production estimates, operating costs, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), payback periods, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. The findings provide a robust framework for assessing the project's overall merit and strategic fit, offering critical insights for energy planners, investors, and government stakeholders exploring scalable and sustainable power generation solutions.
