Radial Compressor and Turbine CFD Performance Analysis
This case study investigated the aerodynamic performance of radial turbomachinery components using advanced RANS CFD simulations. The analysis demonstrated a robust methodology for predicting performance characteristics and informing design refinements across various operating conditions. The blades were designed and modeled using ANSYS BladeGen.

Project Overview
This project involved a comprehensive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) campaign using ANSYS CFX to analyze the aerodynamic performance of radial compressor and turbine stages. The methodology employed a real-gas equation of state and the k-ω SST turbulence model within a steady-state RANS framework, utilizing Multiple Reference Frame (MRF) and General Grid Interface (GGI) techniques for rotating and stationary components. Detailed performance maps were generated across multiple speed lines and flow rates, providing insights into pressure ratio, efficiency, and power characteristics. The analysis demonstrated the capability to validate initial meanline designs, identify critical flow phenomena, and inform geometry refinements for optimized performance and robust operation within specified margins, ensuring the components met their design targets.
