Project Overview

This case study utilized two-dimensional axisymmetric Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to investigate the performance of a supersonic ejector within a thermal management system. The methodology involved developing a compressible flow model in ANSYS Fluent, employing a pressure-based solver and comparing multiple turbulence closures. A rigorous multi-point validation against experimental data was performed, alongside a detailed mesh independence study to ensure solution accuracy and reliability. The analysis explored the complex internal flow physics, including shock structures and turbulent mixing, across a range of operating conditions. Furthermore, a systematic geometric sensitivity study was conducted to identify key design parameters influencing system efficiency. This work demonstrated a comprehensive approach to high-fidelity CFD modeling, validation, and optimization for complex fluid dynamic components in energy conversion applications, providing insights into performance trends and design improvements.
