DC Motor Transfer Function Identification from Step Response Data in MATLAB
This project focused on identifying the dynamic behavior of a DC motor by analyzing its step response. A first-order transfer function was successfully derived and validated against experimental data, providing a predictive model for motor control applications.

Project Overview
This project addressed the critical need for an accurate dynamic model of a DC motor, essential for robust control system design. Utilizing experimental step response data, a comprehensive system identification methodology was implemented in MATLAB. The process involved calculating the motor's steady-state gain from the experimental data and determining the time constant through a linearized approach applied to the initial transient response, employing linear regression techniques. These parameters were then used to construct a first-order transfer function representing the motor's input-output relationship. The identified transfer function's step response was subsequently simulated and rigorously compared against the original experimental data. The derived model demonstrated strong agreement with the empirical observations, effectively capturing the motor's dynamic characteristics and providing a reliable predictive tool for future control applications, while acknowledging minor discrepancies due to inherent modeling simplifications.
